What a week.
First week of high school.
First week of first grade.
First week of riding school buses for both boys.
First week this mom gets into a 5:30AM wakeup routine.
Meet my new best friend.
Now, I'm not on the cuppa java IV drip like my sweetie friend, Paulette, just yet ... but this tea drinker has taken a big step to the crazed, caffeine side and the land of beans, fresh ground beans has saved me from falling on my face this week. 5:30AM is wicked early to be awake. An hour or so, after Ben leaves for 9th grade-ville, the Zack-school-preparation shift begins. I'm surprised that it's actually easier (so far!) to get the 14yr old up and out to the school bus than get the 6yr old out of the room and to the breakfast plate. By the time both kids are at school now, it feels like lunchtime to me and it's just 9AM.
I'm a night owl. Not a morning person. So this school year has been rough from the get-go, but I made it! And ... are you sitting down? I think I might actually enjoy this early morning thing. There is something really magical about the fresh, new day all sparkly and not even painted with the sunlight yet. I've become to appreciate the art of breakfast all the more and delighted in my own between school start time shifts.
Happy it's week-end, more than you know.
