Stitching
Monique sent me the scariest pattern (from her new line, The Primitive Jewel) this week but also the cutest! If you read my blog, you have read my issues with squirrels and while I used to adore these frolicking little critters, now I loathe them. However, Monique designed a most appropriate design as they most probably do possess witchy magical powers to snatch as much food from the birds as they do. Anyhoo, I heart the pattern ~ it makes up into a necklace, wicked cool.

Reading
Can't put this book down and trying to savor ever page. It goes fast and I hope the author has the next book in the series out quickly.
Eating
Recently discovered a passion for Israeli Couscous. At a church dinner this past weekend, the dinner included pearl Israeli couscous and it was delicious. It had pumpkin seeds and raisins in it - absolutely fabulous. So I fixed this recipe as a side dish last night with grilled chicken and it was wonderful. I will say, you will want to half the salt suggested because it was too salty so next time I'll be sure to cut that way down. Otherwise, excellent flavors together. If you have kids who eat anything, they'll gobble it up but my boys examined their portions and opted to just eat the chicken on the other side of their plates.
If you haven't already discovered Floss Box, then check them out ~ fun stitchy stuff!
Pumpkin Spice Coffee is now at Trader Joes ... go hither and fetch ye some! Their website has recipes too!!
Cheerful blog with great ideas.
Another beautiful stitchy blog.
These are on my list to make - don't they look carb-delicious?
This & That
Yesterday I took Z to feed some horses in the area. We took apples and carrots; some horses looked more appreciative than others but it was a fun Fall morning spent with my little man. We went to Chick Fil A for lunch which sweetened the day even more. Don't worry -- we hadn't seen chickens before, just horses.

Have a blessed Wednesday -- Friday is coming.

That squirrel necklace is adorable! I am going to look up the book on Amazon.com when I've finished posting here to see if it is something that will hold my interest (always looking for more reading material!). My daughter loves couscous, so your recipe will probably find it to my table sometime soon! Have a lovely fall day, Cat Haven Crafts
I'm back again! Just ordered the Witches of East End - its sounds like a great read! Thanks for the tip.
I love that necklace! How cool. I have been wanting to read The Witches of East End but the library doesn't have it here yet. Hopefully soon!
What a cool necklace!! OOoh, I've heard good things about that book! I'm gonna have to check it out!
Such a fun post Tanya! I'm going to make sure to look at all those Trader Joe's recipes closer. Don't you love the Floss Box? I discovered that site about a year ago. I just purchased a couple of the Halloween designs, and I can't wait to stitch them!
What a great pattern you received!!! The food looks interesting, might have to give that a try one day!! The horses are just so pretty. Horses are my favorite animal and I love seeing pics of them!
Do you know why this pasta is called "Israeli couscous" ?
1949 to 1959 was an austerity period in Israel, rice was scarce. Ben Gourion asked the pasta factory Osem to quickly devise a wheat-based substitute .
in Israel we call it ptitim, it comes in different shapes.
Even if my daughters refuse to eat it, it is the most common food for children and in army bases.
The most common preparation is to fry a sliced onion, add the ptitim, toss a little, then add some chicken bouillon and cook till done (can be done in oven too).
The pattern is so cute!
Thanks for the nice post and also for the "link love" ;)
So pretty horses!
Hugs!
What a fun post, thanks for all these glimpses into your life. I laughed at your comments about diabolical squirrels!
