What day is it?

I don't know about you but when school starts, Autumn hurries along and I find myself having to recheck my calendar to see what day (or month!) it is. Funny, I do know when Friday is because my boys chant 'it's pizza night' before I have a chance to wonder.

There's something wonderful about simple routines, like pizza & family movie night, in the week's busyness that makes life grand. Every day or evening seems to be filled with some thing even though we are not an overly committed (that sounds weird) family but the calender fills up regardless. A week can echo sadness, heartbreak, happiness, surprises, good news and bad, additions and subtractions but I find that with Faith in God I can manage my way. Some days maybe better than others but that's where the Faith comes in even more.

Miss Maddy lost her kitty sight in both eyes this week; the vet says her retinas detached completely; her blood pressure was high and now she's on the tiniest pill every morning to help control that. I take her back next week for a follow up. She's not in any pain which is good but stays to one part of the house where all her necessities are which makes sense. It is very sad to see her in this way though; Maddy is 16 years old and we adopted her from the animal shelter when she was 6 months old. Our pets are such dear ones to us and sometimes we forget they get old too. I miss her looking at me but she's been getting extra love and content being pampered. Afterall, she is the Queen around here.

Hope your week-end is filled with love, simple pleasures, AND pizza!

Sorry to read Miss Maddy has now lost the eyesight in both eyes. I agree, we sometimes do forget that our pets get older since their lifespans are not in tune with our own. Some of my cats are now middle-aged (coming up 8 years old), but it seems like not so long ago they were kittens - hanging off curtains, ripping wallpaper off the wall etc etc. :-)

Have a lovely weekend.

I'm so sorry to learn about your Maddie.... So sad when we watch our little friends age and start having health issues -- seems we just don't have them long enough.... I'm glad she is not in pain, however -- and is managing in her little area of the house. She is SO cute!

My cat Strike is 11 years and when I think of the countdown, I get very sad. He came to our house when he was a month old and is part of the family.
A big hug to Maddy.
Have a nice weekend!

I'm sorry to read about your beloved Miss Maddy. We have a kitty about as old as she, and ours is completely deaf. She also has arthritis, which we are managing with medication. These pets of ours are such valuable additions to our families, aren't they?

((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))) My mother's cat lost her eyesight and managed well for a good few years after that--they do adapt. Please God Miss Maddy will be the same way! I know it's so hard, though--they are such a part of our lives, these furry babies of ours.

Dear Tanya,

I'm right with you on getting through the week with Faith. I'm so sorry Miss Maddy has lost her sight. I'm sure the "eyes of her heart" (Ephesians 1:18) see you all just as clearly as always, and she knows what it is to be perfectly loved. Animals are blessed by being so much more accepting of old age than we humans, I think. Take care x

Poor dear Maddy, although I'm betting she doesn't mind as much as you do for her. And I can tell you what day it is--just a few days before Christmas, I'll bet.
