::summer reading

I noticed someone at the pool today reading this memoir and remembered that I had bought it at Barnes & Noble several weeks ago while slowly looking through their staff picks shelf. Having worked in a bookstore many moons ago and having my staff picks on display a few times makes me take the time to see what the staff recommends. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. So far this book is quite entertaining, fast paced and interesting. Memoirs are always fascinating to me and this one jumps out at you from the getgo with honesty, laughter and real life drama.

What are you reading?

Reading nursing journals right now, trying to write protocols for work. Puts me to sleep every time. Hopefully, I'll eventually get them done.

nothing at the moment as we are off on Girl Guide camp on Sunday and at present i'm sewing badges, neckerchiefs etc and my spare bed is heaped high with things to take to camp x 2. But i have Agatha Christies Hercule Poirot, Baroness Orcsy's The Scarlet Pimpernel and of course a Jane Austen Book - but i haven't decided which one.... Jane x

Thanks for the review Tanya, I always like to hear about what other people are reading. I'm reading The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri right now - almost done with it - but it's not really grabbing my attention very much.

I am supposed to be reading Harry Potter (the series) but it's been a rough week or so.
I love looking at staff picks too. I'm going to have to check out this book for sure.

First, Love the look on Zack's face with all that chocolate, this book looks interesting, will have to check it out.

But I really wanted to tell you how much I like your newest designs. I am a real sheepy type of gal. These designs are just as cute as can be.

Interesting cover. I am finishing up Final Passage--liked it but cannot really recommend it. My goal is to read any "classic" this year. Guess I'd better get on the ball if I'm going to get that done. Me too..enjoy seeing what others are reading.
And I agree with the above person, your new designs are darling.

I read the sample on my nook and it seems like a good book. I was thinking of buying it. I'm all over the place with my reading right now... a little bit of mystery and a little bit of biography and a little bit of romance. :)

I have this one on my to-read list. :) I'm currently reading "The Things We Do For Love" by Kristin Hannah. A lady from church loaned me three of her books-she thought I would enjoy them. So far so good!

I've got about 20 books going - many are re-reads of old favorites, including one I read every year - "Be Buried in the Rain" by Barbara Michaels. This one and Shattered Silk - are two of the ones I have read a zillion times! Be Buried in the Rain takes place in Virginia - over a hot sultry summer - has a ghost and a dog named Elvis... what more could you want!

Mostly smut, LOL, but I just finished a really neat book by Willa Cather, Sapphira and the Slave Girl, and I enjoyed it immensely.
